Adhesives & Sealants
Bjørn Thorsen has since its founding been committed to servicing and supplying the adhesive & sealants industry with raw materials and additives for use in aqueous systems, solvent-borne and solvent-free (Epoxy, PUR and Acrylates) for 1 component + 2 component Systems.
From Byk Chemie/Byk Cera we supply additives and waxes of the Byk series to provide special properties (e.g. improved adhesion, viscosity reduction, thixotrophy booster and wetting) and to avoid defects (e.g. foam bubbles, flocculation, sedimentation), which cannot easily be achieved by other adhesive & sealants raw materials.
From Cabot and Bentec we supply rheology modifiers of the Cab-O-Sil® series and Viscogel®/Laviothix® series.
The Cab-O-Sil series are fumed silica, free-flowing powdered products available in untreated and treated grades to improve flow properties, rheology control and sag control.
Viscogel /Laviothix are bentonite/organoclay used extensively as gelling agent- /thixotropic thickeners in a wide variety of solvent and water based adhesives.
From Sachtleben we supply inorganic pigments and fillers for various
adhesive & sealents coating formulations to provide pigmentation, UV protection (e.g. Titanium Dioxide, Zinc Sulfide, Barium Sulfate).
From DRT we supply stabilized rosin resin dispersions of the Dermulsene ® series for PSA applications with effective tackification plus high shear performances.
For hot melt adhesives DRT has a range of Dertophene grades for especially VAE, SBC, Acrylic and SBR systems.
From Ferro we supply Santicizer® benzyl phthalate-, benzoate ester-, polyester- and phosphorous-based plasticizers. Santicizer® products are utilized in adhesives to improve flexibility and wet-out of the final adhesive system without sacrificing adhesion performance.
From MAL we supply aluminium-trihydrate (ATH) under the name of Alolt®, which are finely precipitated hydrates mainly used as environmentally friendly flame retardant filler materials.
From Seppic we supply various polyether polyols under the trade name
Dianol® and Simulsol® as mainly reactive diluents in the manufacture of monomers and polymers in 2K adhesives to improve properties (e.g. hydrolysis resistance, adhesion, stability at high temperature and chemical resistance).
